Daryse began her formal dance training in St. Louis, MO where she trained first with her mother and then with Alexandra Zaharias. She was part of St. Louis Dance Theatre for two years. In 1989, she began teaching for Charis Company. She has continued to teach for Charisma Centre for the Arts and has been the Director of Dance since 1995. She returned to school in 1996, graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. In addition to directing CCA, she leads the dance ministry at Christian Assembly. She has been a clinician/choreographer at worship conferences in the United States, Puerto Rico and Israel, including Exaltation, an annual worship arts conference in Columbus, OH where she serves as Co-director of the Exaltation Dance Company. Daryse is passionate about equipping the body to worship in spirit and in truth, with grace and excellence. She has taught Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Dance Composition and Mentoring for Ministry at CCA. She has been happily married to Scott for 33 years, and has 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 2 strikingly beautiful grandchildren to prove it!
LAURA DUSTMANBallet, Mommy & Me

Laura received her BFA in Dance Education from The Ohio State University. She began dancing at the age of 4, taking private lessons in her living room. Laura has studied ballet, including six years at BalletMet, modern, tap, jazz, and liturgical dance. From the age of 12 until graduating high school, Laura was a member of the Charis Dance Company, ministering at various church functions in the Columbus area. In addition, Laura is vital part of the dance ministry at Christian Assembly. She has been teaching at Charisma Centre for the Arts for 15 years! She enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. The little ones especially enjoy “Miss Laura.” Her joyful exuberance is contagious! As usual, Laura is excited to see what the Lord has planned for this coming year, at CCA and at home. There is rarely a dull moment around her house with two energetic kids, one dog, and a husband who is a magician that also works in politics. If only he could make campaign ads disappear!
ANDREW FARINA

Andrew joined the CCA faculty in 2010, moving to Columbus from Detroit. He began in music 23 years ago and has performed as a soloist and ensemble member on piano and trombone. His experience includes performing on both instruments in orchestras, opera productions, piano ensembles, jazz bands, brass quintets, worship ensembles, vocal ensembles, and trombone choirs. Andrew's primary focus is in music theory and completed a Master's degree in 2006 with his thesis concentrating on the perception of musical structure. He is currently is a doctoral student at Ohio State and teaches undergraduate theory courses. In his free time, Andrew enjoys watching sporting events--with a particular affinity for his hometown teams of the Red Wings and Tigers. He also loves to write, cook, and travel. Andrew's burden is for the church to grow in knowledge and have the ability to understand the depths of the scripture, what it believes, and be able to express why its beliefs are held.
MARIAH FRENCHJazz

Mariah has been teaching at CCA since 2004. Her classes have included Jazz, Tap, Modern and Lyrical. In 2005 Mariah earned her BFA in dance from The Ohio State University with distinction for her thesis project "Forging new territory in artistic expression - an exploration of art and Christianity". Before attending OSU she was a dance major at Ball State University, and a part of the Ball State Dance Theater. She also spent a semester studying ethnic dance forms (Spanish, African, and Caribbean) at Florida International University. Mariah received her primary training from the Fort Wayne Ballet and Northeast School of Dance, where she danced pre-professionally with their Jazz Company and competed to gain national titles. In 2007 Mariah and her husband Phil founded Xclaim, a professional dance performance company that shares the love of Jesus through the gift of the arts with regional performances and outreaches. Mariah keeps busy loving her husband, two gorgeous children, and 3 miniature schnauzers. She enjoys whipping up creations in the kitchen, breeding/raising puppies, the outdoors- camping and cultivating her vegetable garden, and singing loudly. Her diverse experiences, passion for outreach, and eclectic choreography make her a unique addition to our teaching staff.
MARY NEGLEYAcroFusion, Hip Hop
Mary Negley started dancing at the age of 13 with a previous background in gymnastics. She has studied, and continues to study, dance at Charisma Centre for the Arts. Mary has experience in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical and modern. She has recently found that she also enjoys hip-hop. Mary has danced with the Exaltation Dance Company and has choreographed pieces for her church. She has a passion for the country and people of Guatemala and has been able to share her gift of dance on numerous trips over the years. She is an accomplished pianist who plays for her church and teaches piano lessons. Mary loves children. A preschool ballet class was Mary's first dance-teaching experience and she is excited about more teaching opportunities. Mary enjoys bringing glory to God through many mediums, including the graphic, visual and performance arts.
NAOMI REINEKEBallet, Lyrical
Naomi took her first dance class in 2001 at North Pointe Dance Academy in Westerville. Since then she has been training at Charisma Centre for the Arts and has taken jazz, ballet, lyrical, pointe, hip-hop, tap, and modern classes, as well as being mentored for dance ministry for two years. She has had numerous opportunities to dance at her church and has also choreographed and lead dances there. Naomi also plays piano and violin. Needless to say, dance and music are extremely important to her; they let her express her emotions and worship to God in a creative and individual way. She has been teaching music at her church’s preschool and at CCA since 2010. Naomi enjoys flower gardening and arranging, singing, reading and quoting movies. She is completing an Associate of Arts degree at Columbus State Community College in 2011 and is prayerfully considering possibilities for her future. In May 2012, she married Kyle! Her dream is to be a wife and mother who dances, makes music, and teaches on the side.

Amy reconstructed Fred Berk's 1953 "Holiday in Israel" from Lucy Venable's 1977 score and wrote a thesis on the significance of Israeli folk dance in cultural identity for her MFA in dance notation. For her BA Theatre with Distinction project and thesis "Let's Have a Dance...:The Significance of Social Dance in Shakespeare" she directed scenes from Shakespearean plays that involved or referenced Renaissance period dances. She has taught at CCA since 2003 (hiatus in 2007, 2010, 2011); her classes have included ballet, pointe, modern, theatre, tambourine and social dancing. Amy is blissfully married and enjoys being a mother to David Arn and soon-to-be Baby #2. Her goals are making little Schmidts, nurturing worshippers, directing movement in theatre, notating worship dances (score and video), training a production management team, and spreading the love of God through hugs.

Matthew B. Schmidt has been a ballroom dancer since 1994. He was president of the Ballroom Dance Association at The Ohio State University from 1996-1998. During that time, he competed as an amateur dancer and won numerous awards. Since then, Matt has taught with Fred Astaire Dance Studios and various community groups. Matt received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and M.Ed. from OSU and now teaches high school science with Columbus City Schools and ballroom dance at the Gahanna YMCA. He is blissfully married to Amy Schmidt and is the proud father of baby David. When not teaching, dancing, or playing tabletop games with his friends, Matt enjoys cooking and speed walking.
LAURA SCHOESSLERBallet, Jazz
Laura Schoessler was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She was nine years old when she began studying at Charisma Centre for the Arts. At CCA, Laura has studied Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Pointe, Jazz, Tap and Choreography. She has performed as a part of the Exaltation Dance Company and junior company. Ms. Schoessler is a founding member of Xclaim Dance Company, a contemporary jazz dance ensemble that focuses on using professional dance performance as a vehicle for bringing art to the forefront of popular culture through choreography and community outreach. Through Xclaim, she has participated in various community outreaches such as Mayor Coleman's neighborhood "Pride." She has danced for all of Xclaim's mainstage performances and other local performances such as "Columbus Dances" and "60x60". When she is not dancing, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends, but above all, she loves being the presence of her Lord and Savior.
JESSICA VARGOVoice

Jessica has been the vocal instructor at CCA since 2004. She came highly recommended by her teacher and our previous instructor, Professor Janet Proodian. Jessica has taught voice lessons both privately and for CCA and Prestige Music Studios. She is in the process of preparing for graduate school where she plans to earn a Masters in Music specializing in Opera Performance. In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and sharing the gift of song with everyone who will listen. She is an asset to CCA, combining a beautiful voice and nurturing spirit as she teaches.
BECKY WOODSTumbling

Becky, a wife and mother of three, has been working with children of all ages in schools, churches and YMCA settings for over 30 years. She has been teaching at CCA for the past 6 years and has daughters who have collectively attended CCA for 15 yrs. Becky currently teaches the tumbling classes, but she has also taught juggling. She attends Christian Assembly Church and loves doing the Lord's work. Some of her hobbies include sewing, baking and having lots of fun. Becky loves fun and is still a kid at heart.
