RECITALS ARE CONDUCTED THE FIRST SATURDAY IN MAY AT 2:00 PM AT CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY, with all registered and paid students participating (exception: non-recital classes). The purpose of the recital is to provide an opportunity for the students to present what they have learned over the course of the lesson year. The Director chooses the recital theme and instructors select music and costuming. Students begin preparing for recital pieces by the first week of February.
DRESS REHEARSAL for the dance and tumbling recital is mandatory and is always conducted on the Friday (day before) prior to the Recital at 6:00 pm at Christian Assembly. Students are expected to wear recital garments during dress rehearsal.
Vocal and Instrumental students rehearse their recital pieces in the performance space during the last week of classes. Instructors will choose all recital pieces. All recital pieces should be classical or sacred in nature. All recital pieces should be memorized.
RECITAL ATTIRE FOR INSTRUMENTAL/VOCAL STUDENTS:
Recital attire is semi-dressy – no jeans, t-shirts or tennis shoes. Dresses should be modest in selection (no mini skirts or spaghetti strap tops).
COSTUMING FOR MOVEMENT STUDENTS:
Movement students are expected to purchase the costumes that teachers choose for each piece. These are decided upon by the end of January. Pricing averages between $30 - $70 per garment/costume. Movement students are also required to have new, clean pink or black tights, shoes and leotards (as specified by each teacher) for the recital.
Please note that all accounts must be paid in full PRIOR to the Annual Recital in order for a student to participate in the Annual Recital.
